Artist statement

Based on textile crafts, I create works and convey messages through the act of

"repetitive tying" In the midst of repetitive daily life. This repetitive tying is based

on the tie-dye technique, and I apply the act of tying and sealing in a modern

way. My work primarily utilizes three elements: fabric, beads, and cable ties. The

most prominent of these are the circular beads, which are bound and sealed. Each

bead varies slightly in size and shape, and I believe they resemble the nature of

the endless stream of thoughts, emotions, and afflictions that arise throughout life,

leading me to identify them. I regard these beads as living beings, and through the

process of wrapping them in fabric with cable ties, tying them, and sealing them, I

eliminate these distracting thoughts and recreate them as new works of art. The

process and outcome of this repetitive tying are rooted in the Buddhist concept of

reincarnation. The creation and assembly of individuals represents an endlessly

repeating process of reincarnation. Furthermore, I believe that nirvana is achieved

only when all the objects are interconnected and completed as a single work. For

me, repetitive tying is a form of practice. I have time to reflect on myself in a

quiet and empty space of 'nothing' while sealing and extinguishing miscellaneous

thoughts.
